Overview
Büro North collaborated with Billard Leece, Cox, JCY and JHG to develop the wayfinding and user experience package for Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH). Designed with a child-first approach, the wayfinding system helps reduce stress and anxiety for young patients, their families, and carers by creating a welcoming, playful environment.
Every element of the design—from vibrant colors to child-height visual cues—aims to make navigation intuitive and engaging. Key features include interactive elements such as treehouse-inspired staff stations and seating pods that encourage exploration. The wayfinding system seamlessly guides visitors through the hospital, incorporating natural light and artwork to foster a sense of calm upon arrival.
By prioritizing both functionality and emotional wellbeing, Büro North’s wayfinding strategy transforms PCH into a de-institutionalized, family-friendly space that supports positive healthcare experiences for children and their caregivers.
