We are currently working with the Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation on a wayfinding solution and identity for the Melbourne Arts Precinct.
Büro North / North were selected by MAP Co to develop an integrated wayfinding, universal design and brand identity for the precinct. At this scale, these systems play a strategic role: establishing the precinct as a coherent destination, improving connections between its institutions and creating a distinctive presence within Melbourne and on the international cultural stage.
Our approach considers the complete precinct experience—from arrival and orientation to movement between the 30+ different cultural institutions and the surrounding city. It provides the clarity, accessibility and consistency required of a contemporary global arts destination while supporting discovery across the precinct.
Developed in partnership with North, the wayfinding and identity approach integrates carefully with the architecture and landscape to create a cohesive and recognisable precinct identity. Physical and digital information work together to respond to changing events, exhibitions and patterns of use, while allowing each cultural institution to retain its individual character within a stronger collective presence.
The result will position the precinct as a globally recognised, relevant and competitive arts precinct. Connected, distinctive and intuitive, capable of expressing Melbourne’s extraordinary concentration of art, performance, landscape and public life to the world.
