Monash University’s future campus at TRX Kuala Lumpur is set to redefine the university experience in Southeast Asia—creating a world-class vertical campus that seamlessly connects education, research, industry and city life within Malaysia’s international financial district.
Designed by Grimshaw and GDP, the landmark development will accommodate more than 22,000 students and 1,700 staff, supporting Monash’s continued growth across the Indo-Pacific while establishing a new model for urban campus design centred on collaboration, innovation and student experience.
Building on a long-standing relationship with Monash University, Büro North is providing wayfinding and user experience consultancy for the new campus, drawing upon decades of experience creating intuitive, inclusive and connected learning environments across higher education precincts.
Working alongside Monash, Grimshaw-GDP and the broader project team, Büro North is helping shape how students, staff and visitors navigate and experience this highly complex vertical campus. From arrival and first impressions through to daily movement, learning, collaboration and campus life, the wayfinding strategy is focused on creating a seamless and legible experience that supports both current and future generations of learners.
The campus has been conceived as an interconnected ecosystem of teaching, research, social and industry spaces, organised around a vibrant central student hub and a network of landscaped terraces and collaborative environments. Through evidence-based design, user journey mapping and integrated wayfinding planning, Büro North is helping ensure these spaces are easy to understand, accessible to all users and deeply connected to the wider city.
