Overview
Büro North developed a wayfinding and interpretation signage system for The Spit in collaboration with the Gold Coast City Council. Our design enhances the council’s ambitious plans by delivering a flexible and expandable system tailored to each unique location.
Constructed from resilient materials, our signage is specifically designed to withstand the region’s harsh conditions, including intense heat and sea spray. Rather than deteriorating, the materials will gracefully patina over time, enhancing the aesthetic appeal while maintaining functionality.
Our design draws inspiration from the Gold Coast’s natural elements—iconic sandy beaches, weathered timber, and expansive blue skies—resulting in a system that not only improves navigational clarity but also enriches the overall visitor experience. The signage invites both locals and tourists to delve deeper into The Spit’s rich indigenous and colonial heritage.
This project exemplifies our commitment to creating durable and contextually relevant wayfinding solutions. By integrating materials reflective of the area’s natural beauty and cultural significance, we have crafted a system that will remain functional and evocative. The result is a solution that ensures The Spit is accessible and inviting all year round, aligned to the council’s vision for a ‘connected community enjoying a vibrant lifestyle’.
"Büro North’s captivating designs, friendly team and depth of specialist expertise made them a pleasure to work with".
